High-visability police patrols, mobile CCTV, graffiti removal and street cleaning are
set to form part of a Week of Action in Newington and the Southside. Police, fire and council officers will work with community councils to make the area "cleaner, greener and safer" during the week, beginning on March 16. The King's Hall will host the launch at 10am on Monday, and will also be the hub of activities during the week itself. The council's local environment manager, David Doig, said: "We want to send out a message that the public have a responsibility to tackle issues like litter, fly tipping and antisocial behaviour."
