Veterans move into new wings at Erskine

Erskine has welcomed the first veterans to move into the new £8.6 million extension at its care home in Gilmerton. The first veteran moved into the Erskine Edinburgh Home expansion earlier this month, and the remaining residents will join in staggered phases until the end of October.

The 48-bed development on Gilmerton Road, which is run by veterans' charity Erskine, will almost double the number of veterans receiving nursing and medical care at the home.

The extension consists of four 12-bedded wings, one of which is the UK's first Army Recovery Centre and provides help with the rehabilitation of injured and wounded troops returning from conflicts including Afghanistan.
