Football strips, tracksuits and equipment donated by Inch Colts to a South African school will reach the other side of the world by the end of this week.

Delivery company DHL picked up three boxes of gear from the Gilmerton offices of the South Edinburgh Echo and will carry the goods free-of-charge to Heidedal Primary School in the city of George by Friday.

The donation was organised by the Global Coalition for Development and Welfare (Codewe) whose UK representative Stephen McConnachie was only too happy to get in touch with employees of the school where he worked to confirm the surprise.

Inch Colts coach David Eaglesham (pictured, right, with young Colts striker Kieran Cantley and Stephen) initially made contact with The Echo to seek advice on who to speak to regarding making such a generous contribution to the lives of South African children, many of whom live in poverty.
