Police appeal for witnesses after shooting

Police are appealing for information after reports of a gunshot in the Capital.

The incident is said to have happened at 5.40am in Fernieside Crescent at around 5.40am on Saturday.

No-one was injured in the incident, and inquiries are continuing to trace those responsible.

Two men were seen running in Fernieside Crescent around the time, towards the playing fields at Craigour Park Primary School.

Both men are described as being in their late teens to early 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim to medium build.

Both were wearing dark clothing with scarves pulled up over their faces to just below the eyes and may have been wearing a hat or hood.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area either before 5.40am or shortly afterwards who might have seen these men to come forward.

"In addition we would ask anyone with any other information that might lead to their identification to contact us."
