A new community centre was set to be officially opened today in the Capital.
The £2.5 million Valley Park Community Centre will serve residents in the Burdiehouse and Southhouse areas of the city.The new building on Southhouse Road includes a games hall, dance studio, art room, IT suite, creche and cafe. Special activities have also been organised for the new community hub, including a new dance school offering classes in modern, tap and ballet for pre-school and pre-primary school children. City education leader Marilyne MacLaren, who was set to officially unveil the new centre today, said: "Good local facilities sit at the heart of vibrant communities and make a difference to people's lives. "I am really pleased that the administration have been able to prioritise this centre which will be a hub for local people for many years to come." Source: Edinburgh Evening News |
