'Mini-Trump' hotel fury grows

Protests are mounting at plans to build a five-star hotel and holiday development on woodland on the outskirts of the city.

Calderstones Land Ltd, based in Fife, want to create a tourist village next to Midlothian Ski Centre, at Hillend, boasting a 250-bedroom hotel, 14 apartments, 22 detached lodges and a country club.

But neighbouring residents and conservationists have hit out at the outline planning application, now lodged with Midlothian Council.
