Meadows Bar licensee speaks out

The new Licensing Act is putting considerable burdens on pubs and the Scottish Beer and Pub Association points out that fees of between £1000 and £2000 represent a trebling of license related payments.

Robbie Howie, licensee of the Meadows Bar in Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh said it was another blow to the industry. He said: “I don’t understand why they have to change a system that has been running fine for the past 30 years especially when some places are really struggling.”
