A man had to be taken to hospital after he was dragged from his van and kicked and punched in the face by a gang of three men. The 23-year-old had just parked his blue Transit van in Ferniehill Road at 10:05pm on Wednesday night when his three attackers circled the vehicle, pulled him out and assaulted him.
The victim suffered a deep cut to his right cheek, severe swelling to his face and a suspected broken nose. He was taken to the ERI for treatment. The suspects fled on foot towards Gilmerton Road.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to come forward.
All three men are described as wearing dark coloured clothing, possibly hooded tops and had either scarves or masks covering their faces.
A police spokesman said: "The victim has been left with some very painful injuries that required medical attention and we are eager to identify and locate those responsible for this assault."
Anyone with information can contact police on 0131-311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111.
