Police recorded a monthly fall in the number of crimes reported in the Marchmont and Meadows area, according to new figures.  PC Yocksan Bell, the area's community beat officer, said 56 offences were reported in November, compared with the monthly average of 67.

Among the reported crimes were four assaults, three of which were related to domestic abuse and were solved by police. A robbery assault in the Meadows during that month also resulted in an arrest being made.

Eleven cars were vandalised in the area during November, with five of the vehicles targeted on the same night in Spottiswoode Street, according to PC Bell's monthly report.
