A tree in the grounds of an Edinburgh school crashed to the ground on to a path which would normally be busy with children. Police were called when the tree fell at the St Margaret's School, on East Suffolk Road, yesterday at 3:30pm – the time when, during term, children would be leaving for the day. Two cars were also damaged in the incident and the road was cordoned off while an investigation was mounted. An emergency response vehicle from the city council also attended, and it is believed that the remainder of the tree will be removed as a safety precaution.
