A school pupil has won a runner-up spot in a national competition to pen a creative letter.

Catriona Chowings, from Preston Street Primary School, scooped the prize in the Royal Mail competition. She was named runner-up in the seven to nine age group after writing a letter advising a character who needed medical help.

She was presented with her certificate and a £20 book token by Martin Hall, a Delivery Office Manager for the Royal Mail.
