The Erskine Edinburgh Home in Gilmerton is appealing to the Capital's residents for donations of memorabilia that could help take its veterans on a trip down memory lane.

Erskine staff are seeking to build up a collection of memorabilia to use in reminiscence groups and one-to-one activities, and are hoping members of the public will be able to help.

Areas of particular interest include Second World War memorabilia such as gas masks, evacuee cases and ration books, or even famous film posters.

Donations of 1940s-1970s furniture, particularly sideboards or display cabinets, are also being sought to help create a dedicated Reminiscence Room for Erskine residents.

Erskine Edinburgh Home manager, Stephen Neale, said: "We would be most grateful for donations of any of these items.

"It is an important activity which triggers precious memories and works as a means of therapy for those in our care."
