The veterans’ charity Erskine is celebrating the Capital’s ex-Service men and women by hosting The Big Purple Proms.

To mark Erskine Week, which is held from 1st-8th June, supporters of Erskine are being invited along to The Drum country house estate in Gilmerton for the musical celebration.

Featuring The Royal Scots Association Pipe Band, city rock group Blue Jam, Highland Dancers and much more, everyone is welcome to take part in the event on Friday 3rd June from 6pm until sunset.

Guests will be able to enjoy tours of The Drum country house by owners Mr and Mrs More-Nisbett, followed by refreshments and The Big Purple Proms. The evening finishes with a Sunset ceremony.

All money raised through The Big Purple Proms will go directly towards the care of veterans across Scotland. This year’s Erskine Week adopts the slogan ‘Proud to be Purple’ encouraging its supporters to wear something purple in celebration of our country’s heroes and in a bid to raise vital funds for the veterans’ charity.

John Fyfe, Erskine fundraiser, said: “We want all our supporters to be Proud to be Purple and I appeal to everyone in the local community to come along on 3rd June and support The Big Purple Proms. We are extremely excited about being given this opportunity to use the splendid backdrop of The Drum country house estate for this inaugural event. So come along, wear something purple and wave a flag as you enjoy an evening of entertainment knowing that your support is helping to provide care for our country’s veterans.”

Entry to The Big Purple Proms costs £7.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and can be paid on the gate. Alternatively, to reserve your seats, call 0131 666 9962.
