Your South Community
Safety Team is committed to tackling those everyday issues which may

We are here to help you with issues such as: • fly-tipping The Council has a range of measures to tackle environmental crime, anti-social behaviour and other community safety issues, so our team will be able to give you the most appropriate advice and assistance. The Council can also arrange a referral to a free mediation service to help resolve anti-social behaviour issues without involving the Police. Mediation helps to resolve conflicts between individuals or groups by providing an impartial third party to help guide constructive communication between those involved. Environmental Wardens have powers to issue verbal warnings, statutory notices, written warnings and Fixed Penalty Notices for a number of environmental offences, or to report offenders to the Procurator Fiscal. If you need help
outside of office hours, you can contact our antisocial behaviour
helpline on 0131 529 7050 (24 hours), or for antisocial noise, you can
contact the Night Noise Team through the Police on 0131 311 3131.
Officers from the Night Noise Team are on duty every day from 5.15pm to
4am, and aim to be on site within 60 minutes (although at busy times
this may take longer). Amongst other measures, officers can issue £100
fixed penalty notices to offenders. Noise issues between 4am and 8am
should be reported to the Police. When the team is called on to investigate a community safety matter:
