­Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her handbag snatched from her in Edinburgh.

POLICE are trying to track a bogus workman who assaulted a woman in her home.  The 25-year-old was left badly shaken by the attack, which happened at around 9am yesterday morning, and also suffered minor injuries.­

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a 20-year-old man after a blaze broke out in his attic.


Crews from Lothian and Borders Fire Service were called to the home in Lammermoor Terrace, The Inch, yesterday, at 4.45pm.­

­EMMA'S mum, Bridie, carefully applies lipstick to her tiny daughter. The seven-year-old has had her false tan topped up, her eyeshadow applied and her blonde curly wig is carefully in place. Bridie zips her into her expensive bubblegum-pink Irish dancing costume embellished with silver Celtic embroidery and Emma Addison is finally ready for the feis, or dance competition.


The Gilmerton youngster has been Irish dancing since she was three and earlier this month finished third in the Scottish regional championships. The dress she is wearing today cost her parents £350 on eBay and the heavy shoes and wig more than £100.
