Fernieside hope that on-form striker Robert Thorburn can provide the inspiration to improve the side's league position in the new year.

Thorburn, 22, has started the new season with a bang, scoring ten goals in half a dozen league games, but his team currently sit in a disappointing 8th position in the Lothian Edinburgh Division One after six matches.

The part-time nurse has notched two hat-tricks and three man of the match awards despite being suspended at the start of the league season.  His most impressive display came in the 4-3 challenge cup defeat of Armadale Athletic in September.

Manager Stewart Laird is delighted with Thorburn's form, saying, "Robert's recent form has been very good.  He is obviously pleased with his performances this season, and we all hope it continues."

Robert progressed through the youth ranks at Fernieside, signing terms with the club's amateur outfit in August last year.
