While the last 18 months have served up a number of personal and family issues, Gary has only found himself in the ring twice in the last year.
This clearly wasn’t enough for the up-and-coming pugilist and has forced him to cut his ties with Frank Warren’s Sports Network.
Some may think that this was a rash move but the plucky 24 year-old decided to turn back the clock to help him progress forward.
After officially announcing his departure from Frank Warren’s stable in May, Gary quickly announced that he was hooking up with Frank Maloney, who promoted Gary when he was an amateur.
By all accounts, both parties are very happy with the reunion and Gary has told the Echo that he is looking forward to getting back in the ring under new management.
Whilst Gary is just pleased to be back in the game, he is determined to take on Namibia’s Ali Nuumembe for the Commonwealth Welterweight crown. Even though this will be a considerable challenge in itself, he has already set his sights higher and is considering the potential beyond this relatively small title bout.
