
St John Vianney’s Primary School was full of players, parents and officials to mark a year of achievement for the young players and their coaches.
Club founder Jimmy Gallagher acted as host for the evening and proceeded to invite all the teams up on stage to receive their respective awards.
All 140 members of the club received a season medal for their participation in the squads but everyone really wanted to know who had scooped the top accolades this year.
In the pre-teen section there were eight awards across four teams. Andrew Garson was named player of the year in the Under-9s, whilst Jake Welsh took the award in the Under-12s. The Under-10s and Under-11s both had multiple winners with Nicky Erskine, Brenden Ferry, Darie McGuire and Jay Sturgeon sharing the 10s’ title and Aaron Moffat and Justin McDermott coming top of the 11s.
Four awards were made in the Under-13s section with Liam Cadle being named player of the year, Adam Stevenson taking players’ player of the year, Kevin Darling claiming the top goal scorer award and Michael Sime receiving the most improved player trophy.
The Under-15s top player was Russell Johnston. Chris Taylor took the players’ player award and Martin Wilkie was voted most improved.
Lewis Hannan and Craig Miller were named as top scorers in the Under-17s squads, whilst Scott Cameron and Michael Fotheringhame shared the top player title. The players’ player award was also shared by Liam Bohlin and Steven Craig.
