Edinburgh's Independent Fashion is given a voice through Style Vox
Edinburgh’s independent fashion scene is getting a voice through the Style Vox fashion show. The event has been created as a project by Masters students Jamie Armstrong and Christina Morrison as a means of targeting Edinburgh fashion channelled through individual fashion retailers and designers. The project has come in a response to the growing demand for Edinburgh to rival other fashion cities Glasgow and London, and to put the Scottish capital on the fashion map. The show, to be held on Tuesday 20th May at Cargo Bar, will feature clothing and accessories provided by some of the top independent fashion retailers exclusive to Edinburgh. The mix of unique vintage and quirky clothing will be provided by Grassmarket based boutique Godiva; contemporary Scottish streetwear label Oddities, which is ‘inspired by the wilds of the north and the modern city’; Swish, serving the ‘hottest new garments and products both locally and to visitors’ via the website (www.swishonthe.com); urban streetwear retailer Goodstead; and environmentally sustainable, reconstructed vintage clothing by designer Islay Roberts at Chazal. These brands, juxtaposed with bespoke luxury cashmere designer Belinda Robertson will make for an inimitable evening for the fashion conscious individuals of the city. Accessories will be provided by contemporary Greek Jewellery boutique Asimi, and bespoke handbag store, Covet; and salon Be Ba Boom will help to complete the trendy and up to date looks of the season. The event itself will host some of the cities finest journalists, athletes and fashion enthusiasts, taking advantage of the inescapable vibrancy of city life. Tickets are on sale now £15 including a goodie bag and a glass of fizz at Tickets Scotland, www.tickets-scotland.com, 08702201116.
