Let us Pilotlight your organisation

Are you, or do you work with, a small charity or social enterprise looking to grow and develop?

Are there big plans and ambitions for the organisation, but you would like some help in getting there?

Pilotlight Scotland provides a strategic planning and skills development service to charities and social enterprises. We match teams of 4 senior members of the business community with third sector organisations in the Central Belt and manage the transfer of skills between them for a 12-18 month period.

We work with the Director or Chief Executive of a charity/social enterprise (so that they can cascade their learning ‘up and down’ within their organisation).

Celine Sinclair is the director of The Yard, an adventure play facility for children with additional support needs. Celine began the Pilotlight process in November 2007. She has two fund managers, an IT director and a self-employed marketing entrepreneur in her team. “I’m delighted to be working with Pilotlight Scotland and to have the opportunity to access much needed business expertise to further develop and expand our service. If it came to a choice between our Pilotlighters or a £8,000 donation I would rather have my team of pilotlighters as they give the team focus and drive that money can’t buy.”

There are some criteria for the places we work with. Get in touch if you like the sound of what we’re doing, and if your organisation, or those you work with, fit the following description, and we can discuss it further:

• You address social disadvantage within the local community

• You employ at least 1 full-time member of staff.

• You have been operational for a minimum of 2 years.

• You have secured core funding for at least the next 6 months.

• You have a Board/Trustees who are willing to participate in the relationship with Pilotlight.

• You have an annual turnover of less than £3m.

• You are ready to take the next step in growing or developing the organisation.
