The streets of South Edinburgh were illuminated in early November thanks to a spectacular display by participants in The Wee Autumn Festival.
Local young people designed and decorated lanterns with the help of staff at the art club at Gracemount Leisure Centre before leading a procession with lit lanterns through the streets of Old Gilmerton Village.
The walk culminated in a show featuring a number of performances by variious local musical talents at the centre.
Alana Graham, 12, is a regular at The Base as a member of the Art Attack Club that was involved in the festival's lantern-making workshop.
The Gracemount High School pupil said, "I come every week and we do clay modelling, drawing, painting. I enjoy art, but I also come to see the youth workers.
"We do displays and we recently went to see the Andy Warhol exhibition. We arrange our own programme most weeks and get to do things like design our own clothes."
Art Attack Club runs at The Base, Gracemount Leisure Centre on Fridays from 2.45pm-4.30pm. Call Virginia on 666 1056 if you are interested.
Local resident Pauline Glaisier, 44, witnessed the lantern parade and had nothing but praise for those taking part.
She said, "It was spectacular. I've never seen anything like it before in Gilmerton. It was nice to see local people participating in the event, and the lanterns were beautiful. My friends who are not from the area thought it was amazing as well."
Meanwhile, Jess McLean of the Gilmerton Singers, the local group that was among the performers at the climax of the parade, was impressed by what she saw.
She said, "We were in a group that eventually came back to the centre and we were singing songs at the back. It was fortunately a nice night.
"The latern parade was lovely and it was a wonderful night altogether.
"As far as I'm concerned, The Gracemount Wind Band were superb with their performance at the end."
