EMMA'S mum, Bridie, carefully applies lipstick to her tiny daughter. The seven-year-old has had her false tan topped up, her eyeshadow applied and her blonde curly wig is carefully in place. Bridie zips her into her expensive bubblegum-pink Irish dancing costume embellished with silver Celtic embroidery and Emma Addison is finally ready for the feis, or dance competition.
The Gilmerton youngster has been Irish dancing since she was three and earlier this month finished third in the Scottish regional championships. The dress she is wearing today cost her parents £350 on eBay and the heavy shoes and wig more than £100.
