The conditions at Saughton Enclosure for Fernieside Amateur’s last game of the campaign were horrendous, with gale force wind and rain preventing them and Edinburgh Rose from serving up a memorable game to close the season.

Fernieside AmateursAt the end of 90 minutes, the score was 3-3 and the game went into extra-time.

With their opponents down to ten men, Fernieside took command of the game and scored a further four goals in extra-time to secure a 7-3 win.

Goalscorers were Richard McDonagh (3), Robert Thorburn, Darren Laird, John Conkey and Ross Hall, with McDonagh man of the match.

This Fernieside team is one of the youngest amateur teams in the association with the oldest boy being 26 years old. The coaches look forward to many more enjoyable occasions such as above in future seasons.
