A local nursery has benefited from the generosity of the Alnwickhill-based Territorial Army. A number of TA soldiers paid a visit to Mother Goose Nursery, Howdenhall Road, to construct a camouflaged hideaway after youngsters using the childcare facility had attempted to assemble something similar.
Jennifer Wilson of Mother Goose was delighted to see at first-hand the skills of the TA put to good use.
She said, "I got in touch with the TA to get them to help make a den for us. The kids had been talking about it for ages as they usually make their own hidey-holes, which never stay up for very long.
"I had the idea of a camouflage net and spoke to the Captain at Alnwickhill. They did everything for free, which is brilliant."
The nursery provides childcare for over fifty children aged 0-5, and Jennifer said all the children would enjoy it all year round.
"It's not just for summer," she said. "We're having decking and gazebos put up soon, and the kids will be able to play outside all the time, camping in the hideaway and painting their faces."
