Sport
Local children came out in force to enjoy a Friday afternoon golf festival at Hermitage GC last month.

SPORT4The after-school event was staged by Active Schools co-ordinator Ellie Forgan and included children from primary schools across South Edinburgh.

Weather put paid to the planned outdoor barbeque but failed to dampen the spirits of around forty young people who attended. Activities were varied, with participants enjoying half-hour slots on four different stages aimed at teaching the fundamentals of golf, including putting, teeing off and chipping.

The Echo is working closely with Active Schools and will keep parents and children up-to-date on events.
